Involved with "CredentialGate" with Royals RHONDA MOSS LET GO AT KCSP-610 Rhonda Moss, considered by many to be one of the top sports reporters in Kansas City, has been let go following cutbacks at Entercom Communications' Sports Talk station KCSP 610, according to sources. "To quote Tony Gonzalez," she told us, "'It is what it is.'" For the first time in years she did not attend the Kansas City Chiefs' 34-10 pasting by the Tennessee Titans. That was probably good news for the team since players didn't have to try and answer her probing questions. It was reported earlier that Entercom/Kansas City was involved in personnel cutbacks of full-time employees, including axing its marketing manager. Radio Ink is now reporting that 15 people have been let go at Kansas City stations. In addition to Moss KCSP also let go Jonah Ballow, the producer for the "Chris and Cowboy" show weekday mornings. Ballow as also the station's Web site manager. "Both Jonah and Rhonda were more valuable than words to our radio station," said a source who was extremely upset over the move by Entercom. The moves at KCSP do not bode well for the station going forward. During the latest ratings period the station has seen its ratings drop before losing key personnel. Moss had a reputation for asking the tough questions that were on fans' minds regarding Kansas City's sports teams. She had worked in the Detroit market prior to KC and knew how much tougher major market reporters covered pro sports teams. In fact, in June 2006 the Kansas City Royals yanked her and WHB's Bob Fescoe's press credentials for asking tough questions during a press conference. The incident resulted in nationwide criticism of the Royals by many media outlets and the Society of Professional Journalists. Fescoe, who received little support from his station, WHB-810, later departed to KFNS in St. Louis. The Royals quietly returned Moss's credentials to start the 2007 season.
