Summary:  The Huntsville Times (AL) has announced (7/15) what was reported here two months ago.

     "At WAAY-TV, Michael Scott, who has worked as a TV broadcaster the last 30 years and most recently worked in Kansas City, will be the station's new evening anchor. He will start anchoring Monday night for the 5, 6 and 10 p.m. newscasts as well as serve as the station's managing editor."

IT'S OFFICIAL: SCOTT JOINS WAAY-TV IN HUNTSVILLE

      Michael Scott, who was the co-anchor at KCTV5 for slightly more than two years, has been named anchor and managing editor at WAAY-TV in Huntsville, AL.   One of his first duties was covering President Bush's visit to Huntsville: Link: http://www.waaytv.com/cgi-bin/shownews.cgi?id=4176
     The Huntsville/Decatur market is ranked 84th in viewership.  Kansas City is the 31st largest.
  
    Scott joined KCTV5 in September 2004 and departed December 1, 2006, one day after the November sweeps period won by KMBC-TV9.  Specific details of his quick exit were never made public.
    He was originally part of a news team that helped KCTV5 move into the lead the previous five ratings books.  Prior to that KMBC had been the ratings leader for more than a decade.
    Before joining KCTV5 Scott anchored and reported at WBTV-TV in Charlotte, N.C. He spent four years at KXAS-TV, where he anchored and reported for Dallas's highest-rated morning news show.
     WAAY-31 is the ABC affiliate in the Huntsville area and was purchased in February 2007 by Calkins Media, Inc. from Piedmont Broadcasting.  Calkins is a Pennsylvania-based mass media company that owns several small newspapers
in Pennsylvania and two other television stations:  WWSB in Sarasota, FL and WXTL in Tallahassee.      
    In 2006, Piedmont Broadcasting agreed to sell WAAY to Calkins Media, Inc.,  The sale to Calkins became official on February 1, 2007. WAAY is Calkins' first broadcasting property outside of Florida.
