REPORTING IS 'RIDICULOUSLY BAD'
MSNBC NOW REPORTING CITY IS FACING BANKRUPTCY?
Hot on the heels of an erroneous story it posted reporting that nearly half of all the schools in Kansas City are closing, the Associated Press has now added more erroneous information that the city is facing bankruptcy.
One government official told Bottom Line, "The Associated Press reporting on the school closings is not just bad, but ridiculously bad."
The AP headline on a story on the CNBC Web site (above) not only makes it seem as if the city of Kansas City is facing bankruptcy (not true), but that it is closing half its schools.
The Web site News.com, where KMBC's Jim Flink will be heading soon, also got the school closings wrong in its headline, but correct in its stories (LINK).
The school closings only involve those 26 schools in the Kansas City, Missouri School District, not all the 12 other school districts in Kansas City which encompass 233 separate schools.

In fact, the KCMO School District is not even the largest school district in the city.
