03-17-2010 KCTV INVESTIGATIVE REPORTER BACK IN CHICAGO Justin Kendall at the Pitch is reporting that former stalwart KCTV5 investigative reporter Ash-har Quraishi is now working at a pair of TV outlets in his native Chicago. According to Kendall (and the site Poynter Online), "Quraishi is now "a multimedia correspondent and content producer" who will split his time between public TV station WTTW and Chicago News Cooperative." Quraishi was unceremoniously let go (along with Investigative Producer Chris Koeberl) by KCTV5 in December as its Investigative Unit was gutted. A week earlier, the CBS affiliate also dumped News Director Tracy Brogden Miller. Quraishi joined KCTV in 2006 from CNN, where he had served as its Islamabad Bureau Chief responsible for the network's coverage of Pakistan. Prior to working for CNN, he reported and produced for WGEM - the NBC affiliate in Quincy, Ill. Born and raised on the northwest side of Chicago, Quraishi holds a bachelor's of science degree in Journalism from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
