CONFIRMED:
The news broken by Bottom Line Communications yesterday has been officially confirmed today on the "Shanin and Parks" afternoon drive time talk radio show on KMBZ that KUDL will go away and become KMBZ-FM effective March 30 at 2 p.m.
"This ways years in the making," said Scott Parks in making the announcement.

LEGENDARY RADIO STATION KUDL WILL BECOME KMBZ-FM
KUDL, which has been a fixture in the Kansas City radio market dating back to 1953, will soon become KMBZ-FM and simulcast with NewsRadio 980-AM KMBZ effective March 30.
The Entercom station had been broadcasting on the FM dial at 98.1 since 1965.
KUDL had been in a fierce battle with KCKC for honors as the first station in the market to switch to Christmas music, but lost the title this year (LINK).  The station had been hovering with 3-share ratings until a spike to 6.6 during the holidays. It has been sliding in the ratings since then.
Another Entercom station, KGEX-FM, will move from a GenX format to an adult contemporary format at 99.7 FM and become "The Point" effective Monday (3/28).
KGEX has been mired near the bottom of KC's radio stations with about a 2.0 share (or lower) since last year.

"Both changes smack of economy moves in reducing staffs," noted an industry insider.
