It was a homecoming of sorts as University of Missouri graduate Leeah Brennan joined the morning news at KSHB-TV41, Kansas City's NBC affiliate. Her first day was April 21. Brennan comes from NBC-TV15 (WPMI) in Mobile, Alabama, where she has been for four years. Prior to that she was in the Pacific Northwest. She replaces Jennifer Kolbusz, who left the station.
As a crime reporter at WPMI last December Brennan covered one of the strangest news stories ever where a local man sucked out an eyeball of woman (see story below). The odd story went national. Her work in Mobile also resulted in a month of free self-defense classes and work outs for women who were afraid of a serial rapist on the loose. She also exposed crack pipes for sale at convenience stores throughout the city. That undercover investigation led to a new city ordinance that got glass tubes off store shelves.
Brennan is a native of Colorado. She has run five marathons, including Mobiles 2005 Legg Masons Fund First Light Marathon. In 2007 she was named "Sexiest Local News Person" in Mobile by Lagniappe magazine. 04-27-2008

Alabama Man On The Run After Sucking Out Girlfriend's Eyeball By Leeah Brennan, 12/27/07 WPMI/NBC News Channel
MOBILE, AL -- Alabama police are searching for a man accused of a vicious attack. Oscar McMillan is accused of biting out his girlfriend's eye.
"We don't know to what level he will stoop to...I mean, he assaulted her with his mouth!," said Saraland Police Sgt. Leroy Smith.
Doctors were able to reattach the eye, but it does not function. Smith said it is the first time police have ever seen someone bite an eye out of its socket. McMillan hasn't been seen since the attack took place in September.
