Bottom Line: The Star's Sam Mellinger has written an excellent update on the Buck O'Neil induction. 07-25-2008
Hall of Fame finds a place of honor for ONeil, but resentment lingers By SAM MELLINGER The Kansas City Star, 7/25 COOPERSTOWN, N.Y. | Youll see it almost immediately. Walk in the front door of the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum, pay the admission fee and look straight ahead. There he is, Buck ONeil a life-size statue of him. Bronze, 6 feet tall, dressed to the nines in a suit and tie, holding a Monarchs cap. Hes smiling, of course. The statue will be unveiled today, with Warren ONeil receiving an award named in his brothers honor at Sundays Hall of Fame induction ceremony. Its the best that baseball and the hall can do after leaving ONeil out of a special 2006 induction class of Negro Leaguers. Link to article: http://www.kansascity.com/637/story/719540.html
