12-10-2009 ARMSTRONG PUMMELED OVER ON-AIR FLUB Dave Armstrong has been the sports radio voice for the Big 12, NFL, ESPN and others for years. He is the ultimate professional and has represented his craft with the highest standards. Why then did Armstrong feel the need to go on Kevin Kietzman's "Between the Lines" show (12/10) and apologize to listeners? Why is he now fodder for bloggers? Because Armstrong made the seemingly unpardonable mistake of mis-identifying a statue outside Bramlage Coliseum prior to the broadcast of a recent Kansas State basketball game. Armstrong mentioned during his broadcast that the statue was of Fred Bramlage (get it, "Bramlage" Coliseum) when it was really a statue of "Mr. K-State" Ernie Barrett. Barrett was an All-America basketball player who later served as athletics director and is now a fund-raiser at KSU. Armstrong (Link to his site) has been in sports broadcasting for nearly four decades. Cut him some slack and buy his book (LINK). Amen.
