STAR DOES WONDERFUL TRIBUTE ON DUTCHER
Congratulations to the Kansas City Star's Traci Angel for penning a wonderful tribute to Nick Dutcher.

"I worked with Bev at KMBC for close to 4 years.  I have to say that Bev’s leaving KMBC is going to be a huge loss to the journalism community and Kansas City as a whole.  Bev is a true person on and off camera with a kind heart and love for those who she works with and the community."---Nick Dutcher, (6/26/10) to Bottom Line on the announcement of Bev Chapman's retirement.

NICK DUTCHER'S SENSELESS DEATH
By all accounts from media people who worked with him and friends, Nick Dutcher, 30, was a pretty nice guy.
He was the off-camera guy who worked weird hours as an evening assignment editor and loved the TV business.
When he did not show up for work on July 20, and could not be contacted, the station notified police. He was found dead in his Ruskin Heights home strangled to death.
Antonio T. Grandison has now been charged with killing Dutcher during a burglary and the story of his crime is shocking.
Ryan Kath of KSHB provided the details:
"Grandison later confessed to police he killed Nick. He told detectives that he went to Nick’s home knowing he was not home. Grandison hid when Nick came home unexpectedly.
"Grandison then followed Nick into a room and the two began fighting. Grandison said he got Nick to the floor and began strangling him with a cord. Grandison told detectives he grew tired of using the cord, so he strangled Nick manually by putting his hands around his throat until Nick stopped struggling."
Sometimes the total lack of humanity shown by some individuals is truly frightening. R.I.P. Nick.
