08-26-2010 FOX 4 STILL MUM ON MOVE TO EARLIER TIME Will FOX4 move its broadcasts to 4:30 in the morning as every other station in the Kansas City market has done or is planning to do already?
"FOX 4 is not ready at this time to comment on our strategy as it relates to the 4:30am newscast," said Damon Bryant, the station's promotion manager in an email to Bottom Line. "Should an announcement be forthcoming, you’ll be one of the first to know." KSHB-TV was the first to formally announce it was moving its 5 a.m. morning broadcast to 4:30 a.m. effective August 23. KMBC then announced it was also going to the same start time on the same day. A few days later KCTV said it will move to the 4:30 a.m. time at a date to be announced (now Sept. 13). Media insiders think it is only a matter of time before FOX4 will have to join its competitors at the earlier time slot. While the station has not done particularly well in virtually every other ratings period, its morning team has dominated for years. It would not want to lose ground to competitors.
