TRANSMITTER FIRE KNOCKS 1510 OFF AIR FOR  TWO WEEKS
A transmitter fire at Hot Talk KCTE-1510AM (LINK) on November 20 knocked the station off the air. At that time they anticipated it might be down for a few days.
However, in their wildest dreams station executives never thought it would take more than two weeks to get back on the air. Officials at Union Broadcasting say a new transmitter will be installed and they anticipate the station will now be operational again on Saturday (12/6).
"This has been a nightmare," said a station official. "In the past transmitters were built and you just ordered one.  Now they build a new transmitter when it is ordered.
"We will install the new transmitter and will rebuild the old one and use it as a back-up if necessary in the future."
Once operational the new transmitter should result in improved signal quality.
