03-11-2010 STAR'S 'INK' HIGHLIGHTS PHOTOS FROM ITS COMPETITOR The Kansas City Star's edgy "Ink" alternative newspaper aimed at the youth market has featured some controversial stories in the past. And now the newspaper has gone so far as to feature 110 photos from a competitor on its Web site. The move is highly unusual since media outlets--particularly the KC Star--- traditionally avoid giving competitors any positive exposure. However, the Ink site features 110 photos (LINK) from various events labeled with the name of competitor NightLifeKC.com (LINK). In fact, many of the photos feature individuals drunk/stoned, giving the finger, flashing gang signals and smoking.
