Darla and her producer will freeze their butts for a good cause.
Bottom Line: Kudos to KMBZ-980AM morning talk show host Darla Jaye and her loyal producer Brian Malicoat, who plunged into a very cold Longview Lake to help raise funds for Special Olympics.
Jaye originally set a goal to raise $3,500 and has exceeded that goal by nearly $1,000. 02-03-2008

Polar Bear Plunge is Saturday to help out Special Olympics

A record number of good and outright brave hearts are expected Saturday at the 2008 Polar Bear Plunge.
More than 600 people plan to get themselves wet in either Longview Lake or Shawnee Mission Park Lake to raise a record of at least $150,000 for Special Olympics in Missouri and Kansas.
Jeremie Ballinger of Special Olympics Missouri thinks people are looking for a different way to help others rather than just buying a raffle ticket or cookie dough. They are moving on to the next level, he said.
Its not too late to break the ice you can sign up all this week or even at the plunges on Saturday. For information, go to www.ksso.org or www.somo.org.
