02-27-2010 KCMO-FM DOMINATES RADIO RATINGS IN KC; WHB CRUSHES KCSP Cumulus Media station KCMO-FM took over the ratings lead in the Kansas City market by crushing all comers in January with a 7.4 rating, easily outdistancing Entercom's KQRC, which finished with a 6.7 in the latest Arbitron Portable People Meter (PPM) ratings (LINK TO ALL RATINGS). The ratings (below) are for all ages 6 and above and for general reference. NewsRadio 980 KMBZ-AM garnered third place with a 6.2. Urban station KPRC, which dominated radio ratings for years in Kansas City, has been severely hurt by the new PPM rating system and was a distant fourth at 5.5. In sports talk circles, perennial leader WHB-810 finished in seventh place with a 4.8 rating, its highest in the past six ratings periods. On the other hand, rival KCSP finished in 20th with a 2.4.
