03-18-2010 KC STAR HIGHLIGHTS ALL 60 STATES OF THE UNION Once again, the job of correcting a glaring mistake falls on the shoulders of Kansas City Star Readers' Representative Derek Donovan. He had the unenviable task (3/18) of trying to explain why his newspaper ran a photo of the American flag that highlighted all 50, 60 states. "This image ran with an editorial on March 13, where it was rather small on the page," noted Donovan in his explanation (LINK). "Shirley, an especially eagle-eyed reader, looked at it carefully. "Even at its small size, she was able to discern a strange detail: It has 60 stars. And looking closer, you can see those stars are also upside down." Donovan recommended that the Art Department not use the flag photo again. Good advice.
03-19-2010 FLAG IS ACTUALLY ACCURATE "This 60-star flag is actually quite accurate. It depicts the new "United States of Obama" and adds stars for sparsely populated but immensely influential new American "states of ignorant bliss," among them: SEIU, ACORN, the ACLU,the wing-nut Greens and, of course, the immensely blissful state of Gore."
