KCTV MORPHING INTO ST. LOUIS'S KMOV
When Bobby Totsch took over the reins as general manager at KCTV, Kansas City's CBS affiliate, in October 2009, it was a good bet that he would be implementing many of the same things that were done at his former station, KMOV, St. Louis's CBS affiliate.
After all, Totsch had been there 21 years, most recently as director of sales.
Almost immediately, changes became commonplace at KCTV.
Totsch promptly brought in ex-KMOV'er Mike Cukyne as his general sales manager. KCTV's heralded Investigative Unit was disbanded---as had been done at KMOV.
Blaise Labbe was brought in in February as news director replacing Tracy Brogden Miller. Totsch then resurrected KCTV's sports programming again and brought in Michael Coleman to anchor it.
The latest announcement of the debut of a new show on KCTV called "The KC Zoo Show" is virtually the identical one KMOV features on Saturday mornings for its St. Louis Zoo.

It looks as if viewers want to see future changes at KCTV they might want to look east to KMOV in St. Louis.

NOT A FAN
"Totsch is admittedly dimwitted.  None of the changes he has implemented have helped the ratings or the product.  He's basically cleaned house without taking two seconds to assess the station's strengths or weaknesses.
It's not unusual to see this kind of flailing about from a non-journalist who has never been anything but a sales guy.
  "
Was it possible for KCTV5 to get any worse than it already was??  Bob Totsch proved that it is possible to take channel 5 to a new low.  Abandon ship!!!"  ---A KCTV5 Insider
