KCTV5 OUSTS NEWS DIRECTOR
The news is flying fast and furious out of KCTV5 these days with the recent announcement here this week that the CBS affiliate will be disbanding its Investigative Unit and also begin moving to backpack journalism for its reporters.
And now reports are circulating that the latest casualty is News Director Tracy Brogden Miller, who had been brought in about two years ago to enhance the station's news product and investigations. The station's overall viewership has dropped considerably in that time, according to a source.
KCTV5, noted for its "Live, Late Breaking, Investigative" slogan and stories, had the tables turned by Pitch Weekly, which "ambushed" Miller in the lobby at KCTV5 in 2008: SEE VIDEO)
Miller started as News Director for KCTV-5 and KSMO, Channel 62 in June 2007 to succeed controversial ND Regent Ducas. Miller had spent her entire 16-year TV career with A.H. Belo Corporation before joining Meredith-owned KCTV.
Miller had spent three years at KTVK in Phoenix as Assistant News Director before joining KCTV.  Prior to that she was Executive News Director at NorthWest Cable News for nearly two years and 3 1/2 years as Executive News Director at KTVB.
She is a 1990 Oklahoma State University graduate with a degree in communications/journalism.
