Pete Grigsby
04-11-2010: Update: KMBC has now confirmed this story 05-06-2010
Botttom Line Exclusive
Pete Grigsby Returns to Airwaves (at least temporarily) at KMBC
Viewers who have missed popular KMBC meteorologist Pete Grigsby will be elated that KMBC-TV9 will be bringing him back to the airwaves for the summer to replace Erin Little, who will be taking time off to have a baby.
Ironically, Little was brought in to replace Grigsby when he took a new position with the Blue Springs School District (BSSD) in August 2008. His final broadcast was July 5.

Grigsby will be on the air at the end of May and will likely work through mid-August when Little is slated to return. He technically will be taking over Lisa Teachman's spot on Saturday mornings while Teachman will be assuming Little's Friday and Saturday evening slots.
"I'm excited and a little nervous," admitted Grigsby. "Although I've done TV for 18 years...I've been off the air since July 2008.
"My close friends at KMBC will quickly get me 'on track' and on air with ease," he says. "They are true professionals and friends."
Viewers who are hoping to see Grigsby back on the air permanently should not get their hopes up. "I love this new job," he says, pointing out his pride in helping start a new radio station for the District (
www.bssdradio.net).
"Teaching meteorology in the mornings at Blue Springs South High School...and working for the District's TV and Radio station in the afternoons is a great experience. I have much respect for my new bosses and the educational system."
Would he consider returning to KMBC or TV full time if offered?
"I honestly would say 'No,'" said Grigsby. "Not only do I love my new job with BSSD, but the time off with my wife and children is priceless! I see my son perform at band competitions on weekends....I see my daughter play basketball...and we as a family can actually make plans for weekend activities."
"Yes....I will be busy this summer, but I'm excited. Two jobs I love...all in one summer...I have the best of both worlds"
    "
I'm also excited for Erin," he added. "She and her husband are beginning their family, and I'm pleased to help out while she is home getting to know her new baby."
