KPRS REGAINS RADIO RATINGS LEAD FROM KQRC Kansas City urban radio station KPRS-FM had been the leader for several ratings books until last Spring when active rock station KQRC (98.9) toppled the Carter Broadcast station by a hefty margin. However, that victory only lasted one ratings book (12-plus) as KPRS regained the top spot in the latest summer book with a 7.6 rating to Entercom's KQRC 7.0. Entercom's NewsTalk KMBZ-980 finished third at 5.5. KCMO-FM (Cumulus) finished fourth (5.2), with KMXV (Wilks) fifth at 4.7. In sports talk, Union Broadcasting's WHB dropped from 10th to the 14th spot with a 3.0 rating. However, that was an improvement from its 2.5 rating in the Spring Book. Rival sports station KCSP finished in 18th place with a 1.7 rating, which was significant drop from its 2.1 in the Spring. With layoffs at KCSP and the conclusion of the baseball season where the station broadcast the Kansas City Royals games, the future might be rocky at the Entercom station.
