KQRC-FM IS NEW RADIO RATINGS LEADER IN KC
Led by Kansas City's leading morning personality Johnny Dare, Entercom's active rock station KQRC-FM is the new radio ratings leader after overtaking previous leader KCMO-FM, which had led since November 2009 in the recently released March Portable People Meter (PPM) ratings.
It should be noted the Arbitron ratings are basically for all listeners and many stations sell advertising based on specific demographics. However, the ratings can provide a good snapshot of listener trends.
KQRC jumped from a 6.4 in February to 7.6 in March to overtake KCMO, which dropped from a 6.6 in February to 6.3 in March. Urban station KPRS moved ahead of KCMO-AM into third place by a 6.0 to a 5.8 margin.
In sports talk, Union Broadcasting's WHB-810 moved into eighth place in the Kansas City market with a 4.8 rating, which tied its highest rating since last November.
Rival KCSP-610, which had two consecutive months of a 2.4 rating, dropped to a 2.2 in March, and plummeted to 21st place in the ratings.
