Saturday�s News vs. Blues dodgeball tourney between local newshounds and Kansas City�s finest � as in the KCPD � quickly turned into a Christians versus lions affair.
�A few things were very clear: Reporters cannot throw or catch or dodge well. Maybe next year we�ll try bowling,� says KCTV�s Dana Wright. �The other thing is I don�t think anybody anticipated just how large the police officers would be � very, very large. I don�t think a single media team advanced past the first round. And I think one of the Channel 5 teams was out in something like 90 seconds or something insane.�
Dave Helling practically singlehandedly kept The Star�s Gary Lezak-led team alive, until he back splattered to the hardwood after knocking out beaucoup boyz in blue toward match�s end.
