PITCH'S PFLAUM WINS NATIONAL JOURNO AWARD
Nadia Pflaum, who joined The Pitch following graduation from Loyola University in Chicago in 2003, has been named a winner of a prestigious 2009 Sigma Delti Chi Award for excellence in journalism presented by the Society of Professional Journalists.
Pflaum was the lone area journalist to win an award among 1,300 entries in categories covering print, radio, television and online. The awards were announced today on the SPJ Web site (LINK).
Pflaum was recognized for a dramatic story told by KCMO's Juliette Jones, who had been raped and stabbed repeatedly by an intruder 10 years earlier. Jones recounted exactly how the rapist acted during the brutal attack.  He has never been caught.
   "
The subject of my article deserves the most credit -- it was her decision to tell her story, which took a lot of guts, and she chose me to write it, which was an absolute honor," Pflaum told Bottom Line. "I'm grateful for the opportunity to do her story justice and I'm proud to accept the award for her, and for The Pitch."

It truly was an award-winning story.
