WAS INTERN ON SHOW
STIGALL DISCUSSES LETTERMAN CONTROVERSY
Morning talk show host Chris Stigall has an interesting resume, which includes being an intern on the David Letterman Show about a decade ago.
Letterman is currently involved in an alleged bribery attempt by a CBS producer over the late night host's sexual affairs with staffers.
On his talk show on KCMO-710 (10/2) Stigall said he had a tough time trying to figure out the controversy over Letterman's admitted dalliances with staffers, particularly since Letterman was not married at the time.
At least one irate emailer to the Stigall show pointed out that Letterman was considered the boss of the show and as such has power over those in his employ.
Stigall provided his views on the situation to Bottom Line:
"It's an amazing story. The sex is the least interesting part, to me. But to hear the press talk of his sex with staffers is kind of amusing.  It makes him sound like Hefner or something.
   "
The guy is an introvert.  Outside of an hour of rehearsal and the actual taping of the show, Letterman was almost always behind a closed office door - which could only be accessed through his assistant's adjoining office.  A gatekeeper at all times.
   "
It isn't as though he's running around the office like Benny Hill," added Stigall. "There are literally just four to five people in a staff of dozens that have any regular contact with him.  Most people who work for that show seldom ever speak to or see him.
"He's just not a social guy with his staff.  There are people there that have MAYBE talked to him at their Christmas party, and that's it.  VERY private - cold, really.
   "
So, when he was carrying on affairs and with whom is a mystery to me and I'll bet the vast majority of his staff.  Mind you, it's been ten years since I was there but I doubt the environment has changed a great deal."
