Pulitzer Prize winning journalist and KCK native Kevin Helliker will be the featured speaker at the Kansas City Press Club's "Heart of America" awards banquet. The event will be held Saturday, June 7 at 6:30 p.m. at the Marriott Country Club Plaza. The annual event honors the top journalists in the area. Special awards will include the "Joe McGuff Lifetime Achievement" award, Journalist of the Year, Print Publication of the Year and TV and Radio Stations of the year. Helliker, 49, is currently the Chicago Bureau Chief for the Wall Street Journal. In 2004 he won the Pulitzer Prize for an examination of aneurysms. A graduate of the University of Kansas, he worked at the Kansas City Times and the Corporate Report (now Ingram's) magazine during his career. Reservations can be made by May 27.
