Darla Jaye Interviews Jesse Jackson 'I'M REVEREND JESSE JACKSON TO YOU..."
Darla Jaye, morning talk show host on KMBZ-980, attempted to get Jesse Jackson to address political issues on her show (4/25) during his recent visit to Kansas City. He had come to deliver a speech commemorating the 40th anniversary of the Fair Housing Act. Jackson became increasingly irritated with the questions posed by Jaye. At one point he refused to address the Rev. Jeremiah Wright controversy following Barack Obama's presidential campaign, and said he wanted to talk about fair housing issues.
Towards the end of the interview this exchange occurred: Darla Jaye: "I look at the Kansas City school system, Jesse, and it has had problem after problem." Rev. Jackson: "What's your name? Darla Jaye: "My name is Darla." Rev. Jackson: "Darla I am a 66-year-old minister. Quit calling me Jesse. I'm Reverend Jesse Jackson to you. I don't know you.."
