10-26-2011 BECKA SUDDENDLY DROPPED AT KFAB IN OMAHA Former popular KMBZ talk show host at KMBZ in Kansas City, Tom Becka, has been let go at KFAB in Omaha as part of a series of cutbacks at Clear Channel Stations across the country. Ironically, Becka might be replaced in the afternoon drive time 4-7 p.m. slot by Scott Voorhees, who also was a popular talk show host in Kansas City before departing to Omaha. “It was part of a corporate decision about cutbacks. It had nothing to do with my performance or local management,” Becka said on Twitter after announcing his departure from the station, which is owned by Clear Channel. Acccording to the Omaha News-Herald, Becka's departure had little to do with ratings. "Becka’s talk show was popular in its slot," noted the Herald. "With almost 8 percent of the audience, KFAB was the 5th most popular station in the time slot that included Becka’s show. KFAB is also the highest-rated AM station during that time slot." Angry fans of the Libertarian took to Facebook and Twitter, posting hundreds of upset comments. At one time Becka was a standup comedian and was opening act for: Jerry Seinfeld, Sam Kinison, Drew Carey, Chicago, George Benson, Paula Poundstone & Darrell Hammond from SNL.
