Bob Moore, Team Historian.
01-26-2010
CHIEFS NAME BOB MOORE NEW 'TEAM HISTORIAN'
The Kansas City Chiefs have named Bob Moore, who held the post of director of public relations for 21 seasons, its new "Team Historian" in what might have been the greatest job title creation in sports history.
Moore was not particularly well-liked by the news media that had to work with him, so it is doubtful there are tears being shed by journalists.
"He always viewed the media as 'the enemy,'" says one veteran journalist. "He was perfect for Carl's administration."
No word has been made at Arrowhead Stadium, but one can assume his replacement will come from the administrative ranks of the New England Patriots, where all football talent and knowledge exists.
Moore was the PR point man for Carl Peterson, long-time President, CEO and GM of the Chiefs, who was ousted by the current regime (reportedly he is Peterson's former son-in-law). The fact he lasted another full season in his PR position was a major accomplishment.

"As team historian, Moore will serve as the club’s primary authority on the history of the Chiefs," said the Chiefs press release on the move. "Moore will continue his work as the curator of the Chiefs Hall of Honor, which will debut at the New Arrowhead later this year."
A longtime advocate of historic preservation, Moore was a founding member of the National Advisory Board of Trustees for The Civil War Preservation Trust, the largest non-profit battlefield preservation organization in the United States. He was a former board member of the Jackson County, Missouri Historical Society and served in a number of capacities for Gettysburg National Military Park.
With more than 30 years of experience as a sports publicist, Moore served as director of public relations for the Philadelphia/Baltimore Stars, two-time champions of the United States Football League. (Carl Peterson was the team's General Manager.)
He also worked on the collegiate level as the sports information director of Drexel University and at his alma mater of Saint Francis College (PA). Moore is a native of Altoona, PA.
